How We Check Our Facts
Last updated: October 26, 2026
Freight factoring terms are easy to misquote. One site says a company charges 1.5%, another says 3–5%, and neither says where the number came from. This page explains how we handle facts, so you can judge what you read here.
What counts as a source
- Company facts come from the company's own public pages. That covers rates, advance percentages, fees, contract terms, fuel cards and new-authority policies. We link the exact page and quote it when the wording matters ("as low as", "for eligible carriers", "qualifying").
- Legal points come from the law itself. For things like Notices of Assignment and UCC lien terminations, we cite the Uniform Commercial Code text and state Secretary of State pages.
- Industry warnings come from named organizations, such as the National Association of Small Trucking Companies, and we attribute them by name.
- We don't use as fact: other review sites, forum posts, sales calls, rate claims we can't trace to the company, or anything behind a form. If a company's rate is only available after you hand over your email, we say it isn't published, and we don't fill the form in.
Dates and "Not published"
- Every company fact in our comparison grid shows its source link and the date we checked it. Guides list their sources at the bottom with the date checked.
- If we can't find a term on a company's website, the cell says Not published, with a link to where we looked. That isn't a criticism of the company. It's a prompt for you to ask for that term in writing.
- If two of a company's own pages disagree, we show both and say so.
Examples are labeled
When we use numbers to show the math, like a $40,000 month at 3%, they're marked as examples and don't come from any company. The calculator starts with made-up example numbers, and says so above the form.
How often we re-check
- At least monthly: we re-read every company page cited in the comparison grid and the guides, and update the "checked" dates.
- Right away: when a reader reports a change, or when we notice one, we fix the cell or sentence and update its date.
- The footer of every page shows the date of the last full re-check.
How affiliate links are handled
Today no company pays us anything: we have no affiliate or referral agreements, and company links go to official sites with no tracking. We may join referral programs in the future. To keep that from ever shaping what you read:
- Companies in the grid are listed alphabetically. A payment can't buy a better position, a better "Best for" line, or the removal of a "Skip if".
- We include companies we have no affiliate relationship with when they help you compare.
- If we ever add a paid link, it will sit next to a "we may earn a fee" label, and every guide with one will have a disclosure at the top.
- We don't run sponsored boxes or "featured partner" slots.
